About Amelia Poamz

Amelia Poamz is a Radio Presenter and Host. She presents The Scene on BBC Radio London every Thursday 8pm – 10pm, uncovering London’s diverse culture and emerging talent. She is also an events host, hosting intimate music nights, festival stages and panel discussions.

Amelia was born in Hackney, East London and always had a love for creativity and the arts. Working closely with her local theatre, Hackney Empire. She went on to study contemporary theatre and performance in university, with hopes to become an actress. After graduating from university, she appeared in a few stage productions and commercials but soon found the best way for creative expression was through poetry.

In 2017 Amelia began performing spoken word and quickly became busy with bookings. Performances led her to appear in Houses of Parliament, The Barbican and even festival stages. She began putting on her own poetry nights and collaborated with her friend, Lemzi to create In-Facts. An intimate night of short films, poetry and acoustic performances.

Amelia began hosting her own events and realised she thoroughly enjoyed it.

In 2019, Amelia’s friend signed her up for a BBC Radio London competition, New Voices, where they were searching for people to feature on the station. Amelia won the competition and had her first one off show on BBC Radio London. Shortly after, she was offered a slot on Thursday evenings.

Amelia has since racked up an impressive collection of interviews and is becoming a name to know when discussing London’s underground music scene.

Amelia loves discovering new music and supporting upcoming artists. She is often on the search for alternative/jazzy artists with sounds that push boundaries. Fortunate enough to be surrounded by so many talented artists, Amelia never loses inspiration and very much keeps her ear to the streets, studios and playlists.

Amelia is known for her warm nature and infectiously happy energy. With over 4 years experience in hosting events, she brings the energy and allows audiences to relax and enjoy the moment.
