A M E L I A POAMZ
CREATIVE AND ACTIVIST
Poetry is an incredible artform that can help express difficult issues for both the poet and the audience. I took to poetry four years ago to use the negative emotions I had and turn into something productive and positive. I believe poetry is a great gateway into difficult subjects and enables important conversations to be had. I use poetry as a tool to speak on personal and social issues, promoting the strength in vulnerability. I write honestly and explicitly about my life experiences. I have been privileged to have performed in the House of Commons, Festivals, Battersea Arts Centre, The Hospital Club, Bernie Grant Arts Centre and have been commissioned by the BBC.
I was named BBC Radio London's New Voice in January 2020. You can here me on BBC Radio London every Thursday, 8pm - 10pm Hosting The Scene.
My show is full of The Arts, Insightful Conversations and Bangers!
Community is incredibly important to me. I have been invited into schools to speak about women empowerment, self love and other difficult issues. I have worked in my local hub for the Housing Charity, Shelter and most recently worked as Community Engagement Officer on London Borough of Barking and Dagenham's Domestic Abuse Commission
Please feel free to contact me regarding events, workshops, collaborations and all other enquiries. Even if you just want to say hi.
