In-Facts, curated by Amelia Poamz and Lemzi in 2019, started off as an intimate night of short films, poetry and acoustic music performances by local creatives. It was all about bringing like minded people together to celebrate their art and love for the arts. Especially focusing on Black and Brown creatives!
It gave a chance for creatives to share their work and engage with new audiences, whilst giving audiences a chance to discover new local talent and connect with a community.
Successfully ran for over a year in Walthamstow, commissioned by Waltham Forest Council, then moving to Shoreditch until it was commissioned by WeWork. Sadly, the pandemic hit and changed the nature of live events for over a year. Amelia and Lemzi decided to keep In-Facts alive through creating a podcast where we invite in millennial creatives to discuss their craft, art and life experiences.
In-Facts Chats was born. Sponsored by The Qube, Amelia and Lemzi found a home in west London and committed to the first season of episodes! In-Facts will be bringing back it’s live events when Amelia and Lemzi find the right home to do it but in the meantime please enjoy the podcast episodes, perfect if you are lacking motivation!
Both Amelia and Lemzi have simultaneously created a community of creatives and felt they wanted to do something to build on their community. In-Facts Scratch Nights was introduced in November 2022. A safe and intimate space for music artists to share unfinished/unreleased music where they can receive feedback and encouragement during their creation process. After 5 pilot sessions with over 20 artists involved their feedback was exceptional.
In-Facts will be running Scratch nights throughout 2023, will soon pick up on in-Facts Chats and bring back the original In-Facts live events when we find the right venue to partner with.
If you would like to get involved as an artist, venue space or sponsor please feel free to get in touch!
